Kuwait Real Estate Company has embarked on a project to renovate Pearl Marzouq Complex. The renovation scope includes:
This renovation will accomplish the following:
The project reclaims the central courtyard as a communal garden that brings the residents and the surrounding community together. The garden gives to the main road in a central lobby that centralizes access to the building and refocuses the image of the building to its visitors and tenants alike.
Expanded aluminum mesh is overlaid on the sandstone façade to hold the aging blocks from falling and to maintain visibility of its warm richly textured surface – a signature of the Loloaa’s façades. The powder-coated expanded aluminum façade is syncopated by two apertures in the metal into echoing the rhythm of the staggered façade fenestrations.
The inside courtyard, overlooked by public corridors of the split-level duplex entries, are overlaid by a trellis system – with climbers, twiners, and scramblers – growing out of hanging flowerbeds at different levels. The internal corridors are connected by "short-cut" stairs to the central garden, via the central lobby.
